Adaucus z Frýgie
Feast: 7 February (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Adaucus was an Italian of noble family who rose through the imperial offices to become a high finance official, and won the crown of martyrdom while still in office. The historian Eusebius, a contemporary, records him.
The Roman Martyrology links him with a small town in Phrygia whose whole Christian population was burnt alive under Galerius, making him their leader; Butler notes that Eusebius tells the two events in the same chapter without connecting them, though Rufinus does.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A high Roman official martyred in the great persecution.
